Are You Resistant to Change?
Category: Kim Manley, Ektron, Trends

Change isn’t easy for most of us. Whether we’re set in our ways or just too busy to stop and think about a new approach, a lot of us are getting by just doing the same ol’ thing.

Take Web browsers for example. Do you know what version of your favorite browser you’re using? Probably not, but you may want to check it out because, in the case of upgraded browsers, change is good.

The latest browser versions will provide the highest level of security and ensure optimal computer performance. This is the point made by Jeffrey Chang, Associate Product Manager, Google Chrome Team in his blog post about being the go-to person for his family’s IT needs.

Also, as the tools and gadgets for building Web sites become more advanced, Web browsers also have to make advancements to keep up. If you’re not regularly checking for browser updates, you could be missing out on some really cool Web site features. Not to mention the “bug” fixes that come with browser updates. There are new enhancements with HTML5 and CSS3.

And speaking of keeping up with the latest advancements, it should be noted that the latest version of Ektron’s CMS400.NET – Version 8 – is NOT compatible with IE6 when it comes to editing a Web site that relies on the CMS software. Some of Version 8’s new features where made possible from new Microsoft technology that is not compatible with IE6.

If you need more reasons to upgrade from IE6, read this article from Technites, "My Top 5 reasons why you should upgrade from IE6." This article reminds us of IE6's security issues, quirky code fixes, old age, and most importantly, that Microsoft is no longer supporting it. I agree with the author.  It's time to move on and upgrade to the latest and greatest version of your favorite browser.

Are you ready to make a change? Check out this article from Web Design "Why upgrade your browser?"  It analyzes different browsers and provides more details and reasons why you should upgrade them regularly.
