What's Your Favorite Widget
Category: Shannon Masterson, Ektron

The release of Ektron CMS400.NET v8.5 has got us thinking about all of the great ways that this product has changed over the years. Most certainly, one of our – and our client’s favorite changes has been the addition of PageBuilder. With PageBuilder came widgets…so many widget.

Everyone here has a favorite one…or two...or three. Here are a few of them, what they do, and how we use them.

What's your favorite widget?  If you don't have one, give us a call, we might be able to help you build one of your very own!

Multivariate Multivariate Experiment
Have you ever wondered if that new blog promo you added to your site really IS directing people to your blog, or if people liked it better the old way? This widget, in combination with the Multivariate Area Widget, can help you determine that. The Multivariate duo randomly displays client selected pieces of content and tracking user response to each permutation. This widget allows you to set-up, start, and track the experiment to pinpoint what DOES and DOESN’T work on your site – all through the CMS.

Content Targeting Content Targeting
Because you know your clients in Alaska don’t care much about what’s going on in Florida.  Or you want to make sure that members who have listed books among their interests see the information about the huge book sale you are having. The content targeting widget will get both of these groups of people what they need.  By looking at the search engine or URL that directed the client to the page, their device (like a tablet or smart phone), the page from which the client was directed, the U.S state or country the client is connecting from, their Facebook profile information, the computer cookies, or their membership information, the CMS is able to determine which client selected content to display – making your site more relevant and personalized to the user.

You Tube Video YouTube Video
Does your company have testimonial videos, instructional videos, or other video material on YouTube? If so, this widget comes in extremely handy. It allows you to quickly apply any YouTube video onto your site. This allows many of our clients to combine the written instructions for their equipment with a video, which goes a long way to ensuring that their clients are able to take full advantage of their expertise. This widget also lets clients get more-bang-for their buck; placing their already produced TV adds on their site.
