What's Trendy in Web Communications
Category: Susan Cline, Trends

Today, I traveled East to speak to my PR peers from the PRCA East Alabama Chapter located in Auburn/Opelika where I discussed what's trendy in Web communications. And what a great crowd — thank you for taking the time to come watch my presentation. And thank you Sam Williams for thinking of Square Root!

So what's trendy in Web communications? A lot. And a thirty-minute presentation wasn't enough time to mention them all — but it was a good start.

Most of the trends we see can be summed up in three words; engage, interact and connect. No brainer right? Engage your user, allow your user to interact with your site and find a way for you to connect with your user or provide a means for them to connect with others.

But while this concept is easy to recognize sometimes businesses have a hard time finding ways to apply these trends to their websites. So I focused on features that enhanced the user experience. These included features like content ratings, multi-media ideas, content sharing, personal service and social networking. Hopefully, everyone walked away with something new that they can use.

For those who could not attend or take notes fast enough, I am including a PDF version of my presentation. Enjoy, and if you have any questions of comments, I would really like to hear from you.
