Email Marketing Tips

AAF-Montgomery had Rachael Kahne from Emma®, an email marketing company, as their guest speaker at their May chapter meeting. During the meeting, Rachael discussed how easy it is to create, manage and send a powerful and affective email. She gave some of the latest tools and best practices when designing, sending and marketing your email. She also explained how companies can benefit from good email marketing while offering suggestions on how to make emails more appealing.
Some valuable tips to remember that Rachael suggested were:
- You've got 15 seconds to get their attention.
- Choose your words wisely.
- Tell the reader who you are upfront.
- Put the most important information in the top few inches of the email.
- Use a healthy balance of images and text.
- Make sure the message comes through, even if the images don’t by using alt tags.
- Pretty up your plaintext.
- You don't have to know html to create a pretty email.
These are just a few of the best practices to use when using your email as a marketing tool. There are so many ways to send an email, but to send one that actually gets results, is a different story.
