Summertime — And Coming to Work is Easy
Ahhhh, summer! It holds the promise of time off, road trips, sailing and lazy days spent lounging in the yard. While I do believe it's important to kick back and relax, for me, work isn't something from which I need a break. The truth is I love my job.
Running a company is a huge commitment, but it is a commitment I and my business partner, Mark Cline, have enjoyed for more than a decade. When I reflect on all of the trials and triumphs we have faced, I'm proud! The rewards have been incalculable. Waking up every day to stoke the business engines of "our little company," helping our clients reach their website goals, and working with Square Root Interactive’s great team – I couldn't imagine doing anything else.
As the season progresses and everyone's mind wanders to the places that they'll go, rest assured there's nowhere I'd rather be. I hope that's the way you feel wherever you are too!

What’s more important:
WHO owns social media within an organization or ... WHY it matters?
There’s been a debate brewing for the last several years, one that Forrester Research had hoped to help settle once and for all with the 2009 release of the results from its "Global Social Media Planning Survey." The results of this study were designed to give companies insight into the ways resources are organized around social media, and it was hoped the results would clearly indicate how social media should be administrated within organizations. It seemed that after more than 40 percent of companies said they used a cross-functional team to manage their social media that cross-functional teams would become the default. Instead, the document further encouraged dialogue about WHO actually “owns” social media – whether it is marketing, PR, customer service, legal or a hybrid of all those departments.
