When it comes to launching a new website, we hate to break it to you, but it’s not all about you. Heck, it’s not even just about your website. You’ve got to ask: Who are your potential visitors? Why are they coming to your site (and why aren’t they)? and How are you going to give them what they want? And, just as important – How are you going to measure the success of your website?
Here, at Square Root, we’ve been doing this website thing for a while, so we know how investment into strategy and planning on the front end can pay off big when it comes time to launch your website and beyond.
Here’s an overview of the services we provide to ensure a big payoff.
After learning a little about you via a preliminary questionnaire, our team will take a deep dive into your website, social networks and any collateral materials provided, as well as scope out competitors and other companies with similarities to your company or organization.
We will work with you to identify your primary target audiences and work together to give each audience a fictional spokesperson or “persona” with a name, face, age, job title, hobbies, goals and pain points. The ability to focus on a particular “person” during the planning and creative process is invaluable.
We’ll meet face to face to build upon our initial research and conduct an in-depth creative, functional and technical discovery. This process will result in a detailed and comprehensive project requirements document.
Business process consulting
During the functional discovery process, we’ll talk a lot about how you go about your business, how you use your website to do business, and things that we can recommend to make the process easier or better.
We’ve learned there’s no such thing as the “best CMS” only the “best CMS for you.” Once we’ve completed our research and the discovery process, we’ll be equipped to recommend possible CMS solutions for your project, giving you the pros and cons of each based on your particular requirements, preferences and budget.
They say, “content is king,” and we believe it. We can audit your existing website content and help you make a plan for updating, deleting and adding content based on your defined website goals, business process and some good hard facts (thanks to analytics data). We can also give you tips and tricks for writing for the web (including SEO best practices).
We know a picture is worth a thousand words. That’s why we’ll create a visual representation of your new website. This document will allow all involved to see how the site will be organized from the site visitor’s standpoint, as well as the back-end for the content contributor.
This is where the rubber meets the road. This document is the blueprint for actually making your website work and work well. It will describe how the site should be setup and what features should be implemented. Through pictures, diagrams, user stories and conditions of satisfaction, all items needed to meet the requirements will be described.
