Life at Square Root Interactive
I joined Square Root Interactive in May 2002 as its creative director and public relations specialist. My duties include site planning, Web design, Web development, public relations, marketing and image development. And, oh yeah, I oversee "the Right Brianiacs." They are a fun bunch to work with.
Life Before Square Root Interactive
Believe it or not, I actually had a successful career as a dance instructor and choreographer for Tonya Speed’s Dance Connection prior to coming to Square Root. For 13 years, I taught the art of dance to all ages, from baby ballerinas to high school seniors, specializing in lyrical and jazz. My biggest accomplishment involved teaching and choreographing for the studio’s award-winning senior dance company. In addition, I served as the choreographer for the Montgomery County Junior Miss program for six years and taught classes at the Montgomery Ballet.
But I decided to do something few people do, that is actually use my college degree. I expanded my creative skills into the corporate world by accepting an account executive position for a local advertising agency in 1998. Wanting to further enhance my skills, I later accepted the communications manager position for the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce where I am proud to say I spearheaded and implemented its Web site project. My responsiblities included Web site maintenance, along with media relations, internal and external communication materials, graphic design, project management, and I worked on a variety of publication projects.
Education
I graduated from Auburn Montgomery in 1993 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with emphasis in graphic design. I also attended Huntingdon College and was working toward my dance degree. Sadly, Huntingdon disbanned its dance program shortly after I started.
Professional Development
To maintain my skills, I'm a member of several industry-related clubs; the Public Relations Council of Alabama and AAF-Montgomery (formally known as the Montgomery Advertising Federation). I served on PRCA-Montgomery's board of directors as its communications chair from 2000 to 2004. And I was also elected to sit on the PRCA state board of directors for the 2002-2003 term. If that didn't keep me busy, I have also served on AAF-Montgomery's board as ADDY® chair, communications chair and president.
