Tracking Santa On-line

Google just posted a blog about its involvement in helping NORAD track Santa. After reading the post and a bit of exploration, I’m ready to start tracking Santa’s sleigh ride beginning Christmas Eve. While, for many years, the only option for finding out Santa’s location was simply to put in a phone call to NORAD and ask the kind folks there, I now have several interactive options, including social media.
NORAD (which normally tracks airplanes, missiles, space launches, etc.) started tracking Santa in 1955 thanks to a printing mistake and the good heart of some folks that didn’t want to disappoint (read the story). For years, children could only phone in to find out the location of Santa Claus. Now, thanks to technology advances, they can track Santa online via www.noradsanta.org, which has used Google Earth to display Santa's voyage since 2004. New this year: Santa's journey will be displayed directly on the Web site with the Google Earth plug-in instead of using the Google Earth client.
